Overview / Responsibilities
Amec Foster Wheeler are currently recruiting for a Senior Piping Engineer to support the Clean Energy business unit, based from our office locations in Warrington (Birchwood) or Knutsford. The successful individual will be report to the account Operations Manager. Duties will include piping design and substantiation for nuclear generation clients.ResponsibilitiesPlanning and estimating of piping engineering work packagesProduction/coordination of piping engineering deliverables in accordance with relevant regulations, codes, standards and AMEC Foster Wheeler/Client quality assurance requirementsSupervise the use of project piping material specification, piping design standards, technical design instructions and discipline work practices / proceduresOversee Piping bulk material aspects, bulk take-offs, quantification, allocation and manipulation of a material management system. Managing line lists and valve schedulesReview and check vendor document / information for compliance with project specificationsAssist in the design/specification of pipe supportsAttending and contributing to design / HAZOP and construction reviewsEnsuring Relevant Good Practice and LFE are incorporatedEnsure interaction with other disciplines for known interfaces
Skills / Qualifications
Application of Pipework Codes including BS EN 13480, BS 806, ASME B31.3Conformity assessmentWall thickness calculationsVessel nozzle checksMaterial selectionDesign/specification of pipe supportsProduction of piping manufacturing isometrics and material listsVibration analysisFlexibility analysisPipe stressing calculationUse of CAESAR II Stress Analysis softwareCommunicate clearly and professionally both verbally and in writing with superiors, colleagues, and individuals outside of the CompanyKnowledge of CDM RegulationsKnowledge of PER and PSSRHold a degree in Mechanical Engineering plus demonstrable experience in the disciplineAlternatively, a minimum of Mechanical Engineering HND plus demonstrable experience in the disciplineEither Chartered (CEng) or Incorporated (IEng) status preferredNuclear Industry experience (desirable but not essential)Demonstrable experience with industrial piping systemsExperience of interfacing with designers and Aveva PDMS software
